Pricing shown is for single cylinder handleset in Oil Rubbed Bronze.
The Baldwin Pasadena is a new handleset inspired by the American Arts and Crafts Movement. This handleset is available in a variety of rustic and comtemporary finishes. Oil Rubbed Bronze and Distressed Antique Nickel are the most popular finishes for capturing the essence of Arts and Crafts. Many finishes are available distressed which shows tiny dents and scratches in the surface, giving the look of a much older piece of hardware.
There are over fifty different trim styles available from Baldwin Hardware. All styles are available in more than eleven finish options that will complement any home decor. Combine these stylish Baldwin handle trims with the functionality and security of the Baldwin mortise lock to create a secure and beautiful entrance.
The Pasadena mortise lock requires the door preparation shown at left. Typically, this preparation is performed on solid wood doors, or doors which are specifically made to accept these locks. Some newer engineered doors are designed for tubular locks only and are not designed with the structural integrity required for a mortise lock.
Mortise locks have existed since the early 1900's, and are still around for good reason. Mortise locks offer advantages such are heavier parts, integrated locking, and increased security. For example, most Baldwin mortise locks have two hardened pins in the deadbolt rather than one. This makes it increasingly more difficult for a burglar to cut through it. The Baldwin mortise lock also incorporates an anti-friction latch which requires less effort when latching the door shut. Lastly, a mortise lock allows the deadbolt and latch to be retracted by inserting the key in only one cylinder, as opposed to two.
Mortise locks install in a pocket which is mortised out of the door. It provides full integration of the latch and deadbolt rather than the two acting as individual components. In stock in emergency egress functions, these mortise locks permit easy exit in case of an emergency. These locks are provided with a 2-1/2 inch backset, a 2-3/4" backset is available upon request. The Pasadena mortise lock trim will cover a cylindrical door cutout. Please contact customer service if your require exact lock dimensions.
The items shown at right are included with all of our active handlesets. A dummy handleset function is a non-functioning lock for use on the inactive door in a matched pair of doors, and therefore does not include these parts.
